Microsoft has finally fixed the performance of AMD processors in Windows 11

Microsoft has released a new Windows 11 update that fixes some performance issues with AMD processors. AMD and Microsoft discovered two issues with Windows 11 when running on Ryzen processors, one of which caused L3 cache latency to increase threefold and reduce performance by up to 15 percent in some games.

This issue has finally been fixed in build of Windows 11 Build 22000.282, available to all users today as an optional update in Windows Update. While the previous Windows 11 update exacerbated the issues, today's update should fix them once and for all.

The second unresolved issue affects AMD's preferred core technology, which switches threads to the fastest processor core. AMD says this second bug could affect performance in CPU-dependent tasks and has already released a new chipset driver version 3.10.08.506.

The Windows 11 Update also includes a large number of fixes, including fixing an issue that caused the Start menu to not open after an OS update, as well as fixing input lag for some Bluetooth mice and keyboards. The full list of fixes included in this update can be found on Microsoft's website.
