Apple recently released the third generation AirPods. The new AirPods have undergone a radical redesign that has been brewing since the release of the first generation model. They now bear a striking resemblance to the AirPods Pro. What's more, there are rumors that Apple will soon introduce the second-generation AirPods Pro.

According to MacRumors, the AirPods Pro 2 headphones itself will retain the same design as the existing model. The publication cites an unverified source and cites images of the new headphones and their charging case.

The new headphones appear to use the same design, which includes a short stem as well as the same silicone ear tips. Judging from the images, it looks like Apple has ditched the optical sensor.

The charging case, on the other hand, is noticeably different. There are speaker holes on each side of the Lightning port at the bottom of the charging case. According to the source, this will allow users to play audio through the charging case's speakers using the Find My ("Locator") app. In addition, there appears to be a metal loop on the side edge for attaching the strap.
