Samsung announces cloud gaming service for Tizen TVs

 While speaking at developer conference, Samsung representatives announced that the company is entering the arena of cloud gaming.

What does this mean?

The new cloud gaming service is designed not for smartphones, laptops or tablets, but for "smart" TVs running the Tizen operating system. The goal of the project is " "users to play the latest games on their Samsung Smart TVs equipped with the Tizen platform".

 Unfortunately, no further details have been disclosed by Samsung . It is not specified what games and when they will be available, on what other platforms they will work, if any. The company representatives are not in a hurry to comment on the announcement either .

By the way, Samsung - is not quite a newcomer in this area. In the early 2010s the manufacturer partnered with game streaming company Gaikai to bring an early version of cloud gaming to its TVs. The system was even launched in  beta testing phase, but then Gaikai's new owner decided to go in a different direction. That owner was Sony, and the technology eventually evolved into the PlayStation Now service.

These days the competition has increased, with Google running its Stadia service, Amazon working on Luna, and  other companies focused on gaming such as Microsoft and Nvidia have their own offerings.
