Games from Steam and GeForce NOW are officially available on Xbox
NVIDIA has unlocked access to its GeForce NOW streaming service through the Microsoft Edge browser, allowing Xbox owners to play Steam PC games on their consoles. GeForce NOW includes access to more than 1,000 PC games, and NVIDIA has finally begun supporting the Edge browser, which is part of the Xbox system. The changes appear in the latest GeForce beta update to date NOW.
Unfortunately, it's still not the official GeForce NOW client that Xbox owners (and other consoles too) are hoping for, but it's still better than previous homebrew solutions via the Parsec app, which was essentially a remote access client to your PC with the ability to stream a picture to the Xbox browser.
This takes the dream of playing PC games on Xbox one step closer to reality, as it gives you easy access to streaming PC games on Xbox. Since the basic GeForce Now service is free, you can stream popular PC games such as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, DOTA 2 and League of Legends at 1080p for an hour-long session.
What's even more interesting is that the Edge browser on Xbox also supports mouse and keyboard input, so you can play some games that don't even have gamepad support. Now this isn't the most ideal experience on Xbox because the virtual keyboard appears when you press keys, and the lag isn't good for the multiplayer gaming experience.
