South Korean company Samsung has recalled its 2018 flagship smartphones and released a One UI software update for them.

Who updated

The update became available for Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+. They will be four years old in February 2022. Now, Samsung is already testing the One UI 4.0 firmware based on Android 12, but the 2018 models are running on One UI 2.5 with Android 10.

The new software version brought them a security patch for November 2021. The update was released on November 2. Samsung Galaxy S9 received the firmware number G960FXXSHFUJ2. For the Galaxy S9+, the G96xFXXSHFUJ2 version has been released.

Recall that both smartphones in 2018 appeared with the Grace UX firmware, which is based on Android 8.0 Oreo. They feature a Quad HD+ Super AMOLED screen, Exynos 9810 or Snapdragon 845 chip depending on the sales region, 8MP stereo front and 12MP main camera. The Plus version turned out to be slightly bulkier, got a 3,500mAh battery instead of 3,000mAh and got a 12MP telephoto lens.
