In October, Swiss engineer Ken Pilonnel replaced Lightning with USB-C in his iPhone X, and this week he decided to sell the smartphone on eBay. While the price went as low as $4,000 on the day the auction started, two days later it was up 25 times that amount.
There have already been 173 bids on eBay. The latest is $100 100. There are 6 days and 7 hours left in the auction at the time of writing.
iPhone X with USB-C instead of the proprietary Lightning connector is an exclusive smartphone for an Apple fan's collection. Ken Pylonnel notes in the description on eBay that he is not responsible for the normal operation of the device if the buyer disassembles it, updates the software, or resets it to factory settings.
