Samsung introduced LPDDR5X RAM for Galaxy S22 and other flagships

Samsung announced the world's first mobile LPDDR5X memory chip.

What's known

The novelty is built based on 14-nanometer process technology and boasts support for data transfer up to 8.5 Gbps. This is 1.3 times faster than LPDDR5 (up to 6.4Gbps). At the same time, the new chipset is 20% more energy efficient.

According to Samsung, the memory LPDDR5X can be used in smartphones, tablets, laptops, as well as in AR/MR/VR-headsets. By the way, it is very likely that Galaxy S22 flagships will receive such a chip, because the current Galaxy S21 models work with LPDDR5 RAM.

Mass production of the new chip will start soon.
