In early November, Swiss engineer Ken Pilonnell began selling on eBay his modified iPhone X smartphone with USB-C instead of Lightning. He managed to sell the model at a price ten times higher than the recommended one.
A few days after the start of the auction the price of the smartphone went up from $4,000 to $100,100, and the number of bids grew to 173. In the end, some of the potential buyers declined their bids, and a prototype iPhone X with 64GB of internal storage was sold for $86,001.
The buyer will also get a 30-minute consultation with a Swiss enthusiast. Note that the smartphone cannot be reset or update the device's operating system to work properly.
