Ukrainian smartphone market declines or grows? Canalys calculated Q3 2021

Analytical company Canalys has summarized the results of the third quarter and shared statistics on the Ukrainian smartphone market.

Who Leads

OPPO, despite a 6 percent drop in shipments compared to the third quarter of 2020, managed to make it into the top three. It controls 6 percent of the market and is second only to two long-time leaders.

The first place is occupied by Xiaomi. Its share is 45%. Compared to the third quarter of last year shipments decreased by 25%. Samsung also supplied to the Ukrainian market a quarter less smartphones, taking 28%. For comparison, in the second quarter of 2021 their shares were 46% and 26% respectively.

Transsion Tecno Electronics continues to surprise by its growth rate. But here it's all explained by the small volume of shipments. Anyway, in the reporting period it shipped 486% more devices as compared to the base period. The previous period growth was over 700%.

The company HDM Global which manufactures smartphones under Nokia brand is at the end of the top 5. The 23% increase in shipments allowed it to take 3% of the market.

In conclusion, there are two changes in the overall picture in comparison with the second quarter of this year. Firstly, Transsion Tecno Electronics and OPPO have switched places. Second, HMD Global displaced Apple from the top 5. Xiaomi and Samsung remained in their places.
