Xiaomi 12 Ultra could be the first smartphone created in collaboration with Leica
Since 2019, Huawei cooperated with Leica, which dealt with optics for smartphone cameras. This collaboration resulted in excellent camera phones that topped the DxOMark rankings. But due to US sanctions and and the crisis surrounding them, Huawei and Leica are no longer partners. Back in May, it was reported on network that Leica was looking for a new smartphone manufacturer to collaborate. Apparently, the vacant seat has already been filled.
What does this
mean?Even then it was rumored that companies such as Honor, Xiaomi or Sharp could enter into an agreement with the brand. And now a fresh leak from insider Digital Chat Station hints that Leica and Xiaomi may have already made a deal.
The insider posted an image of the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra on social media, which has Leica emblazoned on an additional display. This indicates that the Xiaomi 12 Ultra may have a camera built in collaboration with Leica. But this is just speculation for now.
The Xiaomi 12 flagships are expected to debut in late this year or early next year. The Xiaomi 12 Ultra is credited with three 50-megapixel sensors. One of them could be a 1/1,5-inch periscope with support 5x optical zoom.
