What and Where to Watch: Netflix Launches Website with Content Ratings by Subject and Country
Netflix on Tuesday launched a new site that showcases the company's top 10 movies around the world. This comes after the company announced upcoming changes to viewing metrics in October.
As the name suggests, the site shows Netflix's 10 most watched movies and shows worldwide. The rankings are divided into movies (English), TV shows (English), movies (non-English) and TV shows (non-English).
For each title, an indicator is shown indicating how many weeks the content has been in the Top 10 and the number of hours users have spent watching it. Netflix also shows in which countries each movie or series was the most watched. The list will be updated every week on Tuesdays with data Monday through Sunday.
It's worth noting that the Netflix Top 10 includes not only the company's original content, but also licensed movies and shows. During last month's earnings call, Netflix said that it will now consider total hours watched instead of two-minute viewings to determine its Top 10 rankings.
You don't need a subscription to the service to see lists of popular movies and shows. You just need to go to new website. The lists are also available as TSV and Excel files.
