Cybertruck pre-orders exceed 1.2 million units totaling $ 80 billion
Tesla unveiled the Cybertruck electric pickup two years ago and has repeatedly postponed the start of series production. However, the number of people looking to purchase this rather unusual Tesla model quickly grew to 1.2 million people. If all these orders are fulfilled, it will bring the car company Elon Musk income of at least $ 80 billion.
Tesla decided last year postpone the start of production Cybertruck to ramp up production of the Model Y electric vehicle. At the same time, the company is developing new technologies to make the strong metal body of this electric pickup truck. The Tesla Cybertruck is expected to begin production in the second half of 2022.
At the same time, the number of pre-orders continues to grow. In the first week after the announcement of Cybertruck, about 250,000 pre-orders were placed. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic and the delay in production, people continue to reserve the right to purchase this electric vehicle. In June 2020, there were already more than 650 thousand such applicants, and in May this year their number exceeded 1 million. Now the number of pre-orders is just over 1,270,000.
According to Electrek statistics, Cybertruck configurations with two and three engines are the most requested.
