Carefully! OxygenOS 12 update limits Google Camera capabilities on OnePlus smartphones
OnePlus recently released firmware OxygenOS 12 based on Android 12 for OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro flagships... However, there were problems with it, so the manufacturer even had to pause the distribution of the update... Most likely, the errors will soon be corrected and the update of smartphones will resume. But, as it turned out, the firmware may bring new problems for some users.
What's the matter?
As warned in Telegram channel Google Camera Port Updates, OxygenOS 12 restricts the capabilities of Google Camera and other third party camera apps. For those who are not in the know, here's an explanation: Google Camera ports, developed by enthusiasts, allow you to install the application on OnePlus smartphones and expand the standard photo and video capabilities.
On devices with OxygenOS 12, third-party applications, including Google Camera, are denied access to auxiliary modules. That is, you will be able to use only the main camera sensor, but, for example, “shirik” and telephoto lens will not. You won't be able to use them, even if the applications worked with cameras correctly before.
By the way, the same situation exists with OPPO devices. due to restrictions in ColorOS. Now that the OxygenOS skin is pretty much like ColorOS, OnePlus gadgets are also limited.
Thus, if you are using the Google Camera port, it is better not to install OxygenOS 12, but to stay on the previous firmware version.
