Developers S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl abandoned the idea of introducing NFT due to the outrage of gamers
The idea of introducing non-fungible tokens into S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl didn't live a day. The game developers abandoned their plans due to the indignation of gamers.
What is known
Players criticized the idea the company GSC Game World, which wanted to add items available for NFT to the game. In addition, the developers of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl planned to auction off the ability to create an NPC with an NFT buyer appearance.
Despite the fact that all in-game items would not provide a gameplay advantage, players began to urge Valve to remove S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl from Steam and threatened to cancel pre-orders. As a reminder, you cannot post games on the blockchain on Steam, but the use of NFT in projects is not prohibited.
GSC Game World has officially announced that due to player reactions, it is canceling all NFT activities in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl. Interestingly, the developer posted a different statement before that. The text can be found in the screenshot below.
In short, GSC Game World first reminded that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl is the hardest game in the studio. All the proceeds, including the profit from the sale of non-fungible tokens, the company planned to spend on improving the game. But this entry was quickly deleted, followed by a disclaimer from the NFT.
