At Japan's Meiji University, Professor Gomei Miyashita has developed a television that can convey the taste of content on a screen.

What is known

The device is still at the prototype stage and is called Taste the TV. The device is equipped with ten flavor canisters. Depending on the picture on the display, the additives are mixed and displayed on a hygienic foil with which they can be licked off. According to the professor, the goal of developing such a TV is to enable people to have the experience of going to a cafe or restaurant without leaving their homes.

Gomei Miyashita worked on Taste the TV for a year. Students helped him create a prototype. The team consisted of three dozen people. One of the students decided to test the apparatus. According to her, the taste of milk chocolate on TV was indistinguishable from the real one.

Miyashita plans to develop a platform where people can download their own flavors from different parts of the world. The professor also negotiated with companies to use the technology in order to give a different taste to croutons. In the future, such a TV can be purchased for $ 875.
