Processor for new flagship Galaxy S22: Samsung will unveil Exynos 2200 with AMD graphics on January 11
At the end of the year, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen1 and MediaTek Dimensity 9000 processors have already been presented, which will be used in the top smartphones of 2022. Now it's Samsung's turn.
When?
The company has finally announced the date for the announcement of the new flagship Exynos 2200 processor - it will take place on January 11, that is, one week after CES and the estimated launch date of the Galaxy S21 FE. At the same time, the Galaxy S21 FE will use the older Snapdragon 888 and Exynos 2100 chips (depending on the region), but the Exynos 2200 will be reserved for the flagship Galaxy S22 family.
Samsung is emphasizing that the processor will receive AMD graphics based on RDNA 2, and it will be its highlight. This architecture is also used in AMD's RX 6000 series GPUs and is featured in custom chips used in the current Xbox and PlayStation consoles, as well as Valve's upcoming Steam Deck.
The hardware support for ray tracing will be the first for mobile devices, so it will be interesting to see what the gaming industry does with it.
