Mobile operator T-Mobile has announced the start of open beta testing of the ability to connect smartphones to Starlink satellite internet without the need to buy additional equipment.

Here's What We Know

Starlink Internet is gaining popularity due to the fact that it can be used almost anywhere in the world, but for this you need to buy a satellite terminal. The new option will allow smartphone users to access the Internet directly.

So far, the T-Mobile Starlink beta programme is only available in the US for subscribers of T-Mobile, ATT, Verizon and some other mobile operators. At the first stage, only text messages can be sent and received via satellites, but later the functionality will be expanded and the ability to share files and make calls will be added.

Until July 2025 it is free to participate in the beta programme, later the service will become part of the Go5G Next tariff plan and will be available on other tariffs for $15 per month.

The list of smartphones that are compatible with T-Mobile Starlink includes the iPhone 14 and newer models, as well as several Motorola and Samsung devices.
