Throwflame unveils robodog with flamethrower on back
Throwflame has announced the launch of a Thermonator robodog armed with a flamethrower.
Here's What We Know
Throwflame is best known for its compact, all-electric flamethrowers, which rely on a push-button plasma arc igniter instead of an open flame.
Apparently, the Thermonator is built on the four-legged Unitree Go1 robot. It is equipped with a multitude of cameras and sensors that allow it to move autonomously without human involvement.
Atop the Thermonator is one of ARC's flamethrowers. It uses a built-in fuel tank that provides a 10-metre stream of fire for up to 45 minutes
The manufacturer of the Go1 claims that the robot weighs around 12 kilograms. However, the flamethrower version weighs closer to 27 kilograms, which will affect battery life.
Price & When We Can Expect It
The Thermonator is not yet available for purchase. According to the announcement on the website, it will go on sale in the third quarter of 2023. Those wishing to purchase the device can sign up for a waiting list.
The price of the robot is also unknown. However, the Unitree Go1 costs between $2700-$3500 and the ARC flamethrower between $699 and $899. The Thermonator could therefore cost as much as $4400.
