The US government has asked qualified members of the public to help figure out how to harness the power and overcome the problems associated with generative AI.

Here's What We Know

US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo has announced that the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is launching a public working group on AI technologies. This includes generators that can create text, images, video, music and code.

The group will also help the agency develop key recommendations that organisations can follow to address AI-related risks.

The working group will be made up of volunteers with technical expertise from the private and public sectors. Its long-term goal is to explore how generative AI can be used to address health, climate change and the environment in general.
