TikTok's parent company is working on an app to create music using artificial intelligence
ByteDance, owner of video service TikTok, has released Ripple, an app designed to create music using artificial intelligence.
Here's What We Know
Ripple is currently in closed beta testing by invitation. The app allows users to create and edit tracks similar to a digital audio workstation (DAW).
While DAWs require some prior knowledge, Ripple is positioned as an easier and streamlined way to create original songs.
The user can hum a melody into the phone's microphone and the app will transform it into music by adding various musical instruments using AI.
The duration of the track will correspond to the time of the voice recording. Ripple can also generate only instrumental compositions, leaving the vocals up to the creator.
ByteDance claims that Ripple's training dataset is owned or licensed by the company. The app will also be connected to TikTok to import the generated tracks for use as background music.
