Elon Musk promises to launch a fully unmanned Tesla this year

Tesla intends to release fully unmanned cars without human control "later this year".

At the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said they were already close to their goal. He suggested that by the end of the year, the company will reach "what you would call four or five" level of autonomy.

Musk admitted that he had been wrong in previous predictions.

"I feel like we're closer to it than we ever have been," he added.
