Spotify CEO's startup for AI-powered preventive healthcare raises €60m
Spotify founder and CEO Daniel Ek's disease prevention AI startup Neko Health has announced it has raised €60m.
Here's What We Know
The funding round was backed by investors Lakestar, Atomico and General Catalyst. The funds are planned to be used to expand the startup's concept outside of Sweden, where it currently operates a private body scanning clinic.
Neko Health was founded by Ek and Hjalmar Nilsonne in 2018. After much secrecy, the company's first clinic opened in Stockholm in February 2023. Within two hours, it was completely full, with 5,000 people on the waiting list.
At the clinic, people undergo a full-body 3D scan in a minimalist booth equipped with dozens of sensors and controlled by artificial intelligence. In particular, algorithms can immediately identify potential skin conditions and the risk of cardiovascular disease.
Patients also undergo a laser scan and an ECG, which takes 10 to 20 minutes in total. The results are then reviewed and explained by a professional doctor.
The cost of the Neko Health assessment is €250. Since its launch, the clinic has carried out more than 1,000 scans.
According to the company, about 80% of customers prepaid for follow-up examinations a year later.
