Stability AI has released the Stable Doodle AI tool for converting sketches into images

Stability AI has launched Stable Doodle, a new service that lets you turn sketches into images.

Stable Doodle uses the latest Stable Diffusion XL to analyse the outline of a sketch and create a "visually pleasing" artistic representation of it. It's available through the ClipDrop platform, which Stability acquired in March 2023.

There are plenty of AI tools for sketching. But Stability AI claims that Stable Doodle allows for more "precise" control over the image creation process.

In addition to the sketch, the tool takes a hint to guide the image creation process. However, customisation options are limited: at launch, Stable Doodle only supports 14 drawing styles.

Stability AI envisions the new tool could be a tool for designers, illustrators and other professionals to "free up valuable time" and "maximize efficiency"their work. At the same time, the company warns that the quality of the generated images depends on the detail of the original drawing and the accuracy of the cues, as well as the complexity of the scene being depicted.
