Tesla CEO Elon Musk has said that his new startup xAI plans to collaborate with the automaker on both the "silicon front" and the "AI software front"."

Here's What We Know

During Friday's audio session on Twitter Spaces, Musk said that xAI will use Twitter data to train "maximally curious" artificial intelligence systems and products. He did not specify whether X Corp. would charge for access to the social network's APIs.

Musk also claimed without evidence that every artificial intelligence developer on Earth has used Twitter data for training, "in all cases illegally" He did not specify what laws other companies had broken.

According to Musk, Twitter's dataset allows it to train test and graphical models. However, artificial intelligence systems need more than human-generated data, he added. Musk hopes xAI can follow in the footsteps of Alphabet-owned DeepMind, which uses a reinforcement learning approach.

The startup xAI's potential language model will not be "politically correct." Musk, who has repeatedly railed against progressive values, said: "I think our AI can give answers that people may find controversial even though they are actually true"

According to Musk, xAI will have to develop technology that "understands the physical world and not just the Internet". He believes that Tesla's driving data will help him do just that.
