ChatGPT has learnt to remember users and their preferences
OpenAI has released a "custom instructions" feature for users of the paid version of its artificial intelligence chatbot ChatGPT.
Here's What We Know
"Custom instructions" allows the chatbot to remember basic information about the user and their preferences. Because of this, ChatGPT can provide more accurate answers.
For example, a user can specify how many family members live with them. During subsequent shopping list and menu discussions, the chatbot will be able to more accurately calculate the amount of groceries needed.
OpenAI spokesperson Joanne Jang likened "custom instructions" to a constant preamble to queries. Instead of having to enter context for each question each time, users can add context that the chatbot will remember and refer to as needed
A beta version of the feature is already available to ChatGPT Plus subscribers. However, the developers have warned that it may be buggy.
