Google's Search Generative Experience (SGE) search engine, powered by artificial intelligence, has learned how to summarise articles from the internet.

Here's What We Know

SGE can already summarise search results so that users don't have to scroll endlessly in search of information. The new feature is designed to enhance the experience by helping as soon as the link is clicked.

According to Google, the new feature is being rolled out as an "early experiment" as part of its Search Labs programme. It will first be available in the Google app on Android and iOS. The company plans to add article summarisation to the Chrome browser on desktops in the coming days.

To use the new feature on mobile devices, you need to tap on the icon at the bottom of the screen. The system will then highlight a set of "key points" in the article, generated by artificial intelligence.

The function is designed to work only with freely available articles. AI will not process materials from paid sites.

In addition, Google has made other improvements to SGE. For example, for search queries on topics like science, economics, and history, it will be possible to hover over certain words to get information about a specific term. Google is also making it easier to understand summaries of coded information in SGE.
