Samsung has released a Food app for cooking powered by artificial intelligence
Samsung has launched a personalised food and recipe app powered by artificial intelligence called Food, which works in eight languages in 104 countries.
Here's What We Know
Samsung Food relies on the food database of food app Whisk, which Samsung acquired a few years ago. The service lets you search for recipes around the world, save them and create weekly meal plans.
More than 160,000 recipes are available at launch, with more to come. Samsung Food can also be run on mobile phones and Samsung Family Hub smart devices like refrigerators, allowing users to manage ingredients and purchases.
Users can save recipes at any time. The app will analyse them, standardise the format and organise them to create ingredient-based shopping lists.
Samsung Food can also provide recipe recommendations based on available food items specified by the user. Moreover, the AI-assisted app is able to "personalise a recipe" to create a vegan or vegetarian version of a dish, for example.
Samsung Food also uses artificial intelligence to create daily meal plans based on dietary preferences and favourite types of cuisine. By connecting supported devices to the app, users can preheat ovens, set timers and transfer cooking settings.
Samsung plans to add more features in the future. For example, by 2024, the app will integrate AI that can recognise food through the camera.
Samsung Food is available for download on Android and iOS.
