Google launches revamped AI-powered search in India and Japan
Google has launched Search Generative Experience (SGE) in India and Japan, a service that combines generative artificial intelligence with existing search experiences.
Here's What We Know
In Japan, SGE will work in Japanese, while in India it will work in English and Hindi. The company has also introduced a voice input feature in the new search so that users can speak a query and listen to the answer.
According to Google, people are having a positive experience with SGE. The company notes that the largest number of users of the revamped search are between the ages of 18 and 24.
Flashback
SGE is Google's answer to Microsoft's Bing AI. The feature is designed to provide generalised and specialised answers to queries entered, instead of delivering a classic list of links.
Google's system differs from Microsoft's in that the AI is built directly into the search bar, rather than operating as a separate chatbot. At the end of May, the company began providing access to the SGE programme for US users.
