The Guardian newspaper has blocked OpenAI from accessing its content to prevent developers from using the publication's content for ChatGPT training.

Here's What We Know

The blocking of access to the site is due to concerns that OpenAI is using the content without a licence. According to a spokesperson for The Guardian, it is against the terms of the grant to use the newspaper's intellectual property for commercial purposes.

"The Guardian’s commercial licensing team has many mutually beneficial commercial relationships with developers around the world, and looks forward to building further such relationships in the future" " he said.

OpenAI had earlier unveiled a tool that allows websites to block its crowler. Publications like CNN and the New York Times have already taken advantage of the feature.
