OpenAI is planning to open an office in Ireland and make a number of staff appointments as it prepares for future artificial intelligence regulation in the European Union.

Here's What We Know

OpenAI has posted vacancies for nine employees in Dublin, including:

  • Assistant General Counsel EMEA;
  • Head of policy and partnerships for global affairs;
  • Head of Privacy Programme;
  • A software engineer specialising in personal data protection;
  • Head of media relations.

This will demonstrate a commitment to privacy standards to Brussels.

Ireland has become a "second home" for many U.S. IT companies looking to connect with European regulators and customers. It also has some of the lowest tax rates there.
