Amazon will start using a new generative model of artificial intelligence to improve the performance of its Alexa intelligent assistant on Echo devices.

Here's What We Know

According to Amazon, the model is optimised for voice interaction and smart home control. It will take into account the user's body language, eye contact and gestures, providing a more natural conversation.

The AI will also be able to interact with the smart home's API and interpret descriptive phrases like "gloomy lighting". This will give Alexa a personalised touch.

The model is also able to adjust tone and reactions in dialogue to express emotions and respond naturally to the interlocutor's pauses.

Users in the US will soon be able to try out these features as part of a free preview on existing Echo devices.
