The CIA and other US intelligence agencies will soon have an artificial intelligence chatbot like ChatGPT at their disposal.

Here's What We Know

According to Randy Nixon, the CIA's director of Open Source Enterprise, the bot will help analysts search, summarise information and ask clarifying questions. It will be trained only on publicly available data, with sources for verification.

When the tool is ready, all 18 US intelligence agencies will be able to use it. However, it will not be available to lawmakers or the general public.

The CIA assures that they are complying with privacy laws when creating the chatbot. However, the agency did not specify how they will protect it from leaks and inaccuracies.

The decision to create a chatbot is probably motivated by China's announcement of its intention to become a leader in AI by 2030.
