Amazon has admitted that user conversations with its Alexa assistant are partly used to train large artificial intelligence language models.

Here's What We Know

A company spokesperson said that using voice data to improve Alexa's algorithms is not a new practice.

"We’ve always believed that training Alexa with real-world requests is essential to delivering this experience" he said.

Amazon noted that an "extremely small fraction" of users' voice recordings are used to train Alexa models. However, exact figures are not given.

Also, users can still control Alexa's performance through tools and privacy settings, the company added.
