Artists have criticised Disney for the possible use of AI in the 'Loki' poster
Disney
Professional designers have accused Disney of using generative AI to create a poster for the TV series "Loki". In their opinion, the background image gives all the signs of the work of algorithms.
Here's What We Know
Illustrator Katria Raden said that the image of a spiral clock in the background have characteristic artefacts. These may indicate that the image was generated by AI.
Another user found the same illustration on Shutterstock. According to him, it could have been generated by AI, as it appeared there this year. However, the image has no embedded metadata to confirm how it was created.
Several verification programmes scanned the stock photo and found traces of artificial intelligence use.
Note that Shutterstock prohibits posting AI images on its platform unless it was created by the company's own tool.
It's unclear if AI was used in other parts of the "Loki" poster. Disney has not commented on the allegations regarding its use of the technology and licensing of the image from Shutterstock.
