Be My Eyes

Microsoft is launching a partnership with Be My Eyes, an app designed for the visually impaired, to make it easier for them to access the company's customer service team using artificial intelligence.

Here's What We Know

Be My Eyes connects blind users with volunteers who help them with tasks. The startup has also developed a GPT-4-based Be My AI tool, Be My AI, which creates descriptions of a human-made photo - whether it's a product label or a product in a shop.

Microsoft will now integrate this technology into its customer service. This will allow them to solve their visually impaired users' problems without involving a human.

Testing showed that only 10 per cent of customers chose to switch to an operator instead of AI. Also, issues with the AI were resolved in about four minutes, compared to 12 minutes with a human.

According to Be My Eyes, the number of users of the app increased dramatically after the AI was implemented. Besides Microsoft, the startup is testing the technology with other corporate clients including Procter & Gamble, Hilton and Sony.
