Almost the entire OpenAI staff has signed a letter threatening to leave the company and join a new venture led by ousted CEO Sam Altman.
Here's What We Know
The letter was signed by 743 of the company's 770 employees, which is more than 95 per cent of the workforce. It demands the reinstatement of Altman and Greg Brockman, the resignation of the board of directors and the appointment of new board members.
Notably, OpenAI's chief scientist Ilya Sutskever also signed the letter. He played a role in Altman's dismissal, but later regretted his involvement in the board's actions.
Company officials claim the board failed to provide written evidence to support its decision to remove the company's co-founders.
According to media reports, Altman is still willing to return to OpenAI if the current executives step down.
