NVIDIA is ramping up its autonomous driving team in China
Foxconn
American company NVIDIA is actively recruiting drone technology specialists in China. According to the chipmaker's official WeChat account, a team of two dozen people is being set up in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen.
Here's What We Know
The new division is headed by Xinzhou Wu, who was previously responsible for the implementation of autonomous driving systems in the company Xpeng - a Chinese competitor of Tesla. He is now tasked with developing NVIDIA's solutions for the global market.
According to Wu, China plays a key role in the commercialisation of AI products for the automotive industry due to its talent pool and extensive hands-on experience in the field.
The choice of China is not coincidental due to the fierce competition in the local electric vehicle market, where autonomous driving is one of the top investment areas.
NVIDIA's relationship with China has become more complicated after the US imposed restrictions on the export of advanced AI technologies. However, this has not affected the company's automotive developments so far.
