Meta has launched 28 virtual characters with artificial intelligence in messengers and social networks for US users. The tech giant also announced new features - integration with Bing search and long-term memory of bots.

Here's What We Know

Meta has previously introduced a set of AI characters based on celebrities like Paris Hilton and Snoop Dogg. US users now have full access to them on WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram.

A long-term memory feature has been implemented for a number of characters. They will be able to remember dialogues and continue a conversation from the point at which it was interrupted. However, users still have the option to clear their communication history.

In addition, all 28 AI characters now support integration with the Bing search engine. This will allow them to provide more detailed and accurate answers to various questions, the company said.

According to experts, the launch puts Meta in direct competition with other services for creating virtual interlocutors. This includes the Character AI project, which recently raised $150 million in investment.
