Google has announced the release of a new suite of MedLM artificial intelligence models for healthcare and medical applications. The solution is already available to Google Cloud customers in the US and some other countries.

Here's What We Know

MedLM includes two models based on the previously announced Med-PaLM 2: a larger one for solving complex problems and a medium-sized one designed for scaling. As Google notes, the different models are better suited to specific use cases - such as summarising dialogues or searching for medication.

A number of healthcare companies are already testing and integrating Google's solution. In particular, hospital chain HCA Healthcare is using MedLM to automate the creation of medical reports based on doctor-patient dialogues. BenchSci has added AI to its platform to accelerate preclinical research.

Google has also begun working with Accenture and Deloitte to bring MedLM to healthcare organisations. The solution will help optimise workflows, increase the speed of decision-making and improve patient experience.

In the coming months, Google plans to add models based on the recently announced Gemini AI to MedLM. The company intends to continue improving AI technology for healthcare.
