Instagram launches AI-powered image background editing tool

Popular photo service Instagram introduced a new tool for American users - image background editor with support for generative artificial intelligence technologies.

According to the head of the AI division of Meta, Ahmad Al-Dakhleh, the tool allows you to change the background of photos in Stories with the help of text prompts. For example, you can choose ready-made variants "On the red carpet", "Dinosaurs are chasing me" or come up with your own.

After publishing a story with a background changed in this way, other users will have access to the prompt "Try it" so that they too can experiment with the new functionality.

Earlier, Snapchat launched the ability for paid subscribers to generate images based on text descriptions. And Instagram recently integrated 28 AI-enabled virtual characters into its apps.
