According to a Harvard Business School study, OpenAI's ChatGPT chatbot can significantly improve the efficiency of business consultants, but it also causes anxiety.

Here's What We Know

In an experiment involving more than 750 professionals from Boston Consulting Group, when performing creative tasks using ChatGPT, the quality of work was rated 40% higher and time was reduced by 20%. However, when doing analytical work, the chatbot misled consultants, causing them to be less critical of results.

Nearly 75 per cent of participants expressed concern that getting used to AI prompts could lead to an "atrophy" of their own skills. According to the researchers, many experienced an existential crisis from the potential impact of the technology on their profession.

The results point to the mixed effects of tools like ChatGPT on office workers. This is one of the first studies of the real-world application of such chatbots in a business environment.
