OpenAI, developer of chatbot ChatGPT, has shared plans to counter the spread of false information during election campaigns. Particular attention is being paid to increasing transparency of content provenance.
Here's What We Know
In particular, OpenAI intends to use cryptographic tags to track the source of images generated by the DALL-E 3 system. This will allow for better identification of AI-generated content and assessment of its credibility. A similar approach is already being implemented by DeepMind to digitally tag AI content.
In addition, ChatGPT will display real-time news from around the world with authorship and links. Users will also be provided with official information about their country's voting procedure.
OpenAI intends to ban content aimed at distorting or disrupting the election process, as well as campaign apps. Users will be able to report violations directly to developers.
According to the company's representatives, if these measures are successful, they will be extended to other countries. Additional announcements on the anti-fake strategy are expected soon.
