The head of OpenAI visited South Korea for meetings with Samsung and SK Hynix

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman travelled to South Korea, where he held talks with executives from major semiconductor chip makers Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix.

Here's What We Know

According to media reports, Altman familiarised himself with Samsung's production facilities in Pyeongtaek and met with the company's head Kyung Kye-hyun there.

Also during the two-day visit, Altman allegedly met with top SK Hynix executives, including CEO Kwak Noh-jung and Chairman Chey Tae-won.

The main topic of discussion was possible strategic cooperation on the development and production of advanced semiconductor chips for artificial intelligence systems.

According to experts, such a partnership of technology industry leaders has great potential for scaling AI capabilities and reducing costs. The success of the talks will largely determine the future of the entire industry.
