Adobe has integrated generative artificial intelligence into its Acrobat PDF software. AI Assistant is designed to "completely transform the digital document experience".

Here's What We Know

According to the company, AI Assistant will allow users to "easily chat with documents" with documents to quickly find relevant information. It can summarise file content, answer questions and make content-based recommendations.

The company says that user data will not be transferred to the cloud or used to train the AI model.

AI Assistant is already available in beta to subscribers of Acrobat Standard ($12.99 per month), Pro ($19.99 per month) and Teams paid plans. It works with all document formats supported by the app, including Word and PowerPoint.

In the future, Adobe plans to integrate Firefly's AI model into the assistant and add capabilities to work with multiple documents and sources simultaneously, as well as drafting and editing features.

Once out of beta, access to AI Assistant will be available as part of a separate paid plan.
