Meta and South Korean tech giants discussed co-operation in AI and augmented reality

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg visited South Korea as part of his Asian tour, where he held talks with the leadership of LG Electronics and Samsung Electronics.

The parties discussed a possible strategic partnership in the field of augmented and virtual reality (XR) technologies, as well as the integration of artificial intelligence into gadgets.
In particular, LG CEO William Cho expressed interest in the company's AI language models and the Meta Quest 3 virtual reality helmet. Analysts suggest that Meta may be interested in releasing exclusive chips with Samsung to reduce dependence on NVIDIA accelerators.
According to experts, co-operation with major Asian electronics manufacturers is important for Meta in the context of increasing its AI ambitions against the backdrop of competition from Google, Microsoft and OpenAI.
South Korea is the second leg of Zuckerberg's three-country Asian tour. He previously visited Japan and will travel to India later this week.
