According to media reports, this statement was made against the backdrop of Apple's winding down a multi-billion dollar programme to create an electric car. Some of the employees of this project were transferred to developments in the field of AI.
Unlike its competitors, Apple has so far been cautious about investing in generative AI. New AI-based features are expected to appear in Apple apps like Siri, Spotlight and Keynote.
As Bloomberg previously reported, the corporation spends $1bn a year on AI developments, including its own Ajax model and a chatbot known as Apple GPT. In addition, the new iPhones are rumoured to feature special Neural Engine AI chips with advanced capabilities.
