Streaming service Spotify has unveiled a beta version of its AI Playlist feature, which allows users to create music playlists using short text prompts.

Here's What We Know

With AI Playlist, users can generate playlists by specifying various characteristics such as genres, emotions, characters or actions in the prompt. Examples of cues include "sad music for painting fading flowers" or "relaxing music for relaxing during allergy season".

A beta version of the AI Playlist feature is available to Spotify Premium subscribers in the UK and Australia on Android and iOS devices. To use it, users need to go to the "+" section of their library and select the AI Playlist option. They can then use the ready-made sample cues or create their own. Spotify will generate a playlist that can be previewed, edited and saved.

The feature comes more than a year after the launch of Spotify's AI DJ, which automatically creates music selections based on the songs listened to and the user's music preferences.
