Amazon has updated its cheapest e-book and introduced a new version of the Amazon Kindle.

Here's What's New About It

Externally, the new model is not much different from the old ones: the same compact size and 6-inch E-ink screen with a front backlight and a resolution of 300 pixels per inch. It measures 157.8×108.6×8.0 mm and weighs 158 g. There are two colors to choose from: black and blue.

Overall, the new Amazon Kindle gets many of the features of the Paperwhite, only it costs less. Among the main changes there are the increase in built-in memory from 8 GB to 16 GB, the USB Type-C connector instead of microUSB (a special "thank you" for that), and battery life of up to 6 weeks on a single charge. But keep in mind that this is with 30 minutes of reading a day and wireless turned off.

Here's What It Costs

The Amazon Kindle 2022 costs $100 for the version with ads and $120 without. Pre-orders are open starting today, and official sales will start on October 12.
