The other day, an insider spoke about expanding support for Samsung flagship devices. At today's presentation, the South Korean manufacturer confirmed this information.

What to expect?

As a reminder, last year Samsung made a commitment to provide 4 years of software support for its phones and tablets, that is, 3 major OS updates and 4 years of security fixes. This applied to flagship models and representatives of the A and M series.

Now the company has announced that flagship smartphones, tablets and even smart watch will receive an additional year to their life cycle. They can count on 4 major Android operating system updates and security patches within 5 years. That is, the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy Tab S8 lines presented today should switch to Android 16 and receive the latest patch in 2027.

But that's not all - extended support also applies to last year's flagship devices. In general, the list includes the following gadgets:

  • Galaxy S22
  • Galaxy S22+
  • Galaxy S22 Ultra
  • Galaxy Tab S8
  • Galaxy Tab S8+
  • Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra
