Android 13's Easter Egg - Lots of emojis
In the midst of beta testing an unremarkable beta Android 13 for developers 9to5Google discovered something interesting: our annual Android Passover. This year the hidden feature is based on a colorful screen saver with Android 12, filling it with emojis. Lots of emojis.
The way the easter egg works in the current beta version is similar to last year's version - launch the easter egg by going to Settings > About Phone > Version Android, then triple-tap the Android version. The analog clock widget will open; move the hand to 13:00 and you'll see a colorful set of spots appear that represent a customizable color theme Material You.
Here's how Easter is different from last year's: hold down one of the dots and they'll all turn into emojis. You can keep tapping to switch between screens with different emoji themes like sea creatures, cats, and moon phases.
There is a practical aspect to the Easter egg Android 12, which also remained unchanged from last year. When you find an Easter egg, you will have a new home screen widget called "Android S Easter Egg". When you add it to your home screen, you'll see color swatches for the different system colors the phone uses based on your background art, namely Material You, so you can save or share them. Useful? So. As fun as a screen full of cat reaction emojis? In no case.
